Sustainable philanthropy is an initiative to deal with economic and environmental issues in a sustainable way, towards societal independence.
What do sustainable NGOs such as GIVEWATTS stand for?
We are the ones thinking forward, looking deeper into a community level, defining what is holding it back. We are working tirelessly to create societies that can operate, develop, and stand on their own feet. One of the goals is to reach a structure level where the communities become economically independent and prosper despite external fundings.
While some organizations work on giving food, clothes, or money directly to people in need, sustainable NGOs focus on socio-economic development, taking into consideration the basic concepts of equality: to ensure that every individual has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents.
HOW DO WE DO THAT?
- Through a business model that directs funding to build infrastructure and deliver renewable solutions to marginalized areas.
- Funding allows us to build local offices to create jobs in off-grid communities.
- We promote project ownership to people who live in those communities as they become actively part of the transition.
CAN YOU HELP IT?
We are looking at the future. It is a long term legacy. All people are capable of learning and developing the skills to build a sustainable society. Most of the people are missing an opportunity.
If we want to save this planet we have to start by changing the mindset, because as much as people are destroying the earth, only people can fix it.
